House inspections are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get. Sometimes its a face full of insulation.
House inspections can be full of surprises, and as a seasoned home inspector, I’ve seen my fair share of unexpected encounters. One unforgettable moment was when I ventured into an attic and was greeted with an avalanche of insulation pouring down from above. Fortunately though I always lay down a protective sheet before heading into any attic. It’s a small precaution that can save the home owner from a big mess. If only I could dodge out of the way a little faster.
And then there’s the heating registers! Details matter … I always look down the heating registers and sometimes there’s a surprise lurking down below! This can be a good indicator of how well the home has been maintained, or not! Most often the heating ductwork is reasonably clean however I always recommend when a property changes hands, that the ductwork is professionally cleaned regardless. One never knows how much ‘chocolate’ is down there, how long its been there or what flavor it is.
But let me tell you, the surprises don’t stop there! During my inspections, I’ve stumbled upon some bizarre things that make each day unique. From hidden secret rooms tucked away behind bookshelves to discovering a full-blown garden right in the middle of a living room – you name it, I’ve seen it! It’s amazing how creative some homeowners can get with their decor. Each inspection is like embarking on an adventure, never knowing what wonders (or puzzling curiosities) lie ahead.
