Recently, while conducting a thorough home inspection for a client, I encountered a situation that perfectly illustrates why expert attention to detail is paramount. After squeezing into a particularly tight crawlspace and after reviewing the structure, electrical , plumbing etc. I directed my focus to the furnace found there. After opening and documenting the furnace I examined the furnace exhaust. As usual I was looking for unglued, cracked or poorly mounted exahust piping. This is a rare find but in this case I found that the exhaust pipe was unglued. This is something the untrained eye would have likley missed.

This wasn’t just a minor defect; it was a serious safety hazard. A leaking furnace exhaust can silently release toxic carbon monoxide into living spaces, posing severe health risks, even death, to occupants.
